Babetown Fancy- Chef's Table

Babetown Fancy is a food focused, small table take on the general Babetown parties. Each Babetown Fancy dinner is a several course meal, served in a private home with 15-20 other queer women, trans and non binary people, highlighting the work of queer chefs in and around New York. This November, we will have a plated tasting from our founder, Alex Koones, in her home.

Alex grew up cooking often alongside the women of her traditionally Jewish community prior to moving to New Orleans and taking her first line cook position. Since returning to her home city, she has worked in some of New York's finest restaurants including the Breslin, The Nomad and Jean-Georges and ran several other pop-ups including a queer brunch and a pie-and-liquor pop-up called Crust. Koones's food seeks to modernize and expand an understanding of regional Jewish cuisine, fusing together Ashkenazi and Sephardic influences, with a focus on comfort food. Every month, feeding New York's queer community for the larger, general Babetown events is the greatest joy of her life and cannot wait to do a more intimate, plated dinner for everyone.
